Today we will begin with keyboarding practice.  Practice typing the letters A-C on this keyboarding practice game.

Practice counting to twenty with Allie.

In your Green Book there is a counting activity with bugs.  Follow the directions carefully.

Work your problem solving muscles!  Complete the puzzle.  What’s the animal?

(Have your child point to individual letters of the alphabet while reciting it. This connection needs to be concrete.)

Today we will be learning about the moon!  The moon is out at night with nocturnal animals.

Watch this three part documentary about the moon.  Tell someone that didn’t watch the video three things that you learned about the moon.

Here is a page with moon crafts.  If you would like to, pick one to do.

Count your fingers.
Count your toes.
How many eyes do you have?
How many ears do you have?

What street do you live on? What are some streets around where you live? Why do you think streets have different names?

Today we will be learning about a bug that is very active at night.  The lightning bug!  Do lightning bugs live where you live?  Sometimes people call them fireflies.  What do you call them? Why do you think some people use different words for the same thing in different areas?

Look at these pictures of fireflies. Can you count how many pictures of fireflies there are on the page?

Play this firefly game to practice patterns and learn about the special language that fireflies use.

Find the hidden nocturnal animals.

Today you will be learning about another nocturnal animal, the bat.

Listen to the story “Stellaluna” about a baby bat and her mother.  Find someone to tell about the book (summarize). How was Stellaluna different from the baby birds?

Play this game about nocturnal animals to see how they see at night.

Make an “Itsy Bitsy Bat Book”.  Color it and learn the facts about bats.

Count to 6 out loud.
Spell your name out loud.

Practice numbers 1-5 in your Green Book.

Have you ever heard the word “nocturnal”?  Nocturnal animals stay awake at night and sleep during the day, the opposite of humans!  For the next three days we will be learning about nocturnal animals.

Try to complete the owl jigsaw puzzle. This will help with problem solving.

Make an owl.  Cut out the shapes.  Glue them to the body.  Color your owl.  What shape is the owl’s beak? Make sure to give the owl big circle eyes.

Listen to the story “Lilly, the Wild Cat“.  Summarize the story.

Practice numbers 1-5 in your Green Book.

Today you will be going on a virtual field trip to Italy!  Italy is on the continent of Europe.  It has many famous cities like Milan, Florence, Rome, and Venice.   But, today you will be exploring Venice.

Here is a video about Buster the Bunny exploring Venice.  It’s from a show called “Postcards from Buster”.  Answer these questions after watching the video… What country is Venice in?  How do people get around in Venice?  What are the special masks for?

Pretend that this picture is a postcard.  You want to write home to tell people about the time you are spending in Italy.  What would you tell them about Venice?

Count the Murano glass beads.  Do you remember when Buster went to Murano?  It’s the special place where they make glass.  These beads are from Murano.

In your Green Book color the Murano Glass vase.  Decorate it with your favorite colors. Explain to someone how they made the glass in Murano.

Today we will be talking about elephants!  With an adult go through this National Geographic page about African elephants.  Read the facts, look at the pictures, listen to the audio clips, and watch the video of the baby elephant.  Describe what you learned about elephants.  What is your favorite thing about them?

Listen to the story “Henry and the Sugarbugs“.  Summarize the story.

In your Green Book there is a color graphing activity.  Follow the directions carefully.

Practice writing the number four in your Green Book. Circle your best one.

Play the story game ABC Mommy and Me.

Here is a sheep counting game.  It’s kind of hard, but fun.  See how many sheep you can count.  Can you challenge other people to try and count the sheep?  Watch out for the sneaky wolves dressed up like sheep, you don’t count those!

Baby sheep are called lambs.  Watch this video about a little lamb that was just born on this farm.  Are baby lambs fast or slow?  When do they start walking?  What else did you learn about lambs?

Watch this video about a sheep and his very special friend.  You’ll probably be surprised!  Can you guess from this video what animal we will be talking about tomorrow?
